PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear School Community,

Term 3 has started and we have just left the first three weeks behind. At Sirius College, we aim to address social, emotional and physical needs of our students. Therefore, we organise several activities throughout the year. This Term, Foundation to Grade 2 students are doing gymnastics at Jet’s Gymnastics on Mondays. Grade 5s and Grade 6s will be doing bike riding and are currently joining in with other local schools in the winter sports. Grade 6 students are attending a program called Social Warriors which is organised by Headspace where students talk about how to be more resilient and stop bullying.

We have also started our annual Qurban Campaign in collaboration with the Australian Relief Organisation (ARO). We are aware that Qurban is a time where humans shred a heart of greed and selfishness, and fulfil it with beauty. We all participate in a very profound cause – understanding, giving and helping the poor and needy. We believe that as a school community and with our collective efforts we can make a significant difference in the lives of those less fortunate! The donations collected from the 2018 Qurban Campaign will be sent to Asia Pacific.

We try our best to improve our facilities to better equip our students. The new library will be available soon. Besides the library, we have started renovating our art room. The work will be finished in the third week of August. Once the renovation is finished, our teachers and students will be able to use the new room more efficiently.

I also want to introduce two new staff members who joined us this term. Mrs Jodie Clohesy is our new Special Needs Coordinator and also will assist Grade 3 to Grade 6 classes as Teacher Aide. Mrs Nuriye Engin is our new part-time Librarian. I wish both of them success and joy at our campus.

Finally, I would like to share some of the events/activities planned in the next few weeks.
